Description
The proposed route begins and ends at the Astronomical Observatory, where you will return at the end of the hike for a packed dinner and then move on to astronomical outreach activities and a visit to the observatory.
The excursion, starting and ending at the Felsina Astronomical Observatory, will cover part of the Sentiero dei Pianeti (Planet Trail), inaugurated in May this year by the Associazione Astrofili Bolognesi. The trail is a deviation from the historical path of the Piccola Cassia, an ancient itinerary that connected Nonantola to Pistoia, crossing the mountainous territory between Modena and Bologna. Thematic stations (each one representing a planet or an element of the solar system) have been placed along the path, interspersing the route from Croce delle Pradole to the Observatory.
The proposed route will cover part of the trail, including stations for the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, the Asteroid Belt and Uranus.
