The Felsineo company has been producing PGI Mortadella di Bologna for more than fifty years in Zola Predosa.
The company takes its name from Felsina, Bologna's name during the Etruscan Age, as a proof of its long-term relationship with the city and its territory. It originated as a small factory producing cold meats and salami called Raimondi in 1947; then, it produced mortadella exclusively in the 1970s. Since its headquarters was transferred to Zola Predosa in 1965, Felsineo became a leading company in mortadella production on a European scale in the early 1990s. Felsineo is run by the third generation of the founding family now.
There are three proposed lines:
- choice Tradition: Ancient Bologna, Rustica
- choice Weelbieng: Amabile, Ghiand'oro
- choice Fantasy: La Rossa, La Sciccosa, Ghiandine, La Nera
Free visits in the farm for groups and schools on request. At the end of the visit, the participants are offered a mortadella-based tasty snack. Visits to the company are also held on the occasion of Mortadella Please, an International Festival completely dedicated to the Mortadella, which takes place every year at the beginning of October in Zola Predosa.
