Monzuno is located at the foothill of Mount Venere, a rise that reaches almost 1,000 meters above sea level. Numerous CAI trails pass through here, making it possible to take comfortable walks even from the village.
Here there is also a section of the famous Path of the Gods, the 130km route connecting Bologna and Florence, which finds in Monzuno the ideal midpoint.
The name "Mount Venere" refers to the goddess of love and beauty, who was supposedly worshipped in a small temple built at the very top of the mountain. There is actually no evidence for the existence of this building, but in the early 1900s an oratory was erected here that is still visible (although the architecture has been altered by later interventions) and opened on the occasion of the festival held here in early August.
Given its proximity to the village Mount Venere is an ideal destination for walking, hiking and biking tours suitable for everyone.
