Naturalistic Oasis San Gherardo

Located near Pontecchio Marconi, in the lower Reno River valley, the San Gherardo Nature Oasis includes two wetlands, the San Gherardo calanque amphitheater and the Balzo dei Rossi arenaceous wall. The Oasis was created following the reclamation of a quarry near Palazzo de' Rossi and is now a place of protection and conservation of local flora and fauna. It offers the possibility of birdwatching, trekking, Nordic walking and a deeper understanding of the geological and morphological aspects of the area.

Access to the Oasis is possible only by guided tours. The Oasis is part of the Natura 2000 Network, the European Union's system of protected areas. It can only be accessed through guided tours scheduled in the calendar or with visits booked on other dates at InfoSasso. Visits are conducted by professional naturalists who manage on behalf of the Municipality of Sasso Marconi the study and conservation of the species present.
