In the municipality of Monzuno there is a small village with a decidedly distinctive name: Gabbiano.
Here, in addition to some houses built in stone as per tradition and a recently restored spring, you can admire a church with unusual architecture for a mountain village.
In fact, the building, dedicated to San Giacomo, is quite large and enriched by tall spires, reminiscent of the forms of the Gothic style typical of famous cathedrals: these soaring elements give an unexpected grandeur to the church. The church's earliest layout dates back to the late 1300s, while its present neo-Gothic appearance is the result of reconstruction in 1921; subsequently, the church was restored again in 1947 because of damage sustained during World War II.
