This trail, which is entirely in Emilia-Romagna, networks the Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi dell'Abbadessa Regional Park and the Parco Regionale della Vena del Gesso Romagnola (recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Emilia-Romagna complex of Gypsums and Caves), thus offering an opportunity to touch on some of the region's most relevant geological sites, including chalk outcrops, karst phenomena, caves and gully formations.
Before entering Romagna's land, the route also touches the charming village of Dozza, with its fortress and painted walls will captivate all walkers along the Via dei Gessi e dei Calanchi.
It is recommended to walk the route in 7 days and to plan the stages well according to one's physical preparation.
