Monument to Brazilian soldiers

The monument, located near the Abetaia area, commemorates the memory of all Brazilian soldiers who fought in the Gaggio Montano area during the winter and spring of 1944-1945.

The Brazilian army fought a tough battle against the German army in the Guanella plain. This event resulted in a significant number of casualties as they attempted to conquer the "unassailable peak," namely Monte Castello. Brazilian soldiers were also involved in other battles in the Apennines, especially in the Castel d'Aiano and Montese areas.
