The "Castle of Medelana" is in fact a 20th-century villa—Villa Ada—built in the 1920s on the ruins of a 15th-century structure. The villa’s eclectic style is especially evident in the presence of a small turret with battlements and corbels, a feature that adds to the building’s mysterious charm. Unfortunately, it now stands abandoned, after having served for many years as a hotel and restaurant.
The estate also includes a farmhouse dating back to 1848, which reflects the typical rural style of the Bolognese countryside; a barn distinguished by pilasters and double-height columns; a stable—partially collapsed, yet still preserving its unique stone masonry and lateral buttresses; and finally, a caretaker's house, marked by a simple rural architecture with exposed stone and brickwork.
The "Castello di Medelana" association has been committed for years to the restoration and preservation of the estate, which frequently hosts events and small local festivals.
