In the surrounding area of Rocca di Roffeno, emerge several tower-houses, imposing stone and brick buildings dating back to the mid-5th century.
The idea of the "tower-house" spread during the reconstruction of the ancient dwellings with more imposing criteria and the use of more solid materials. This transformation was also influenced by the artisans from Como and Ticino who were looking for work in the area at that time. Among the most famous dwellings are the Poggiolo, the Civetta and the Monzone, representatives of remarkable 16th-century architecture.
But there are also the Jussi Tower in Serra Sarzana, the Lavacchio Tower, Tower of Villa di sotto, Landi House, the Palazzina in Casigno, Rase di sotto, the Casigno Palace, Cà d'Usciere and the Lamari Tower. Monzone, presumably located in the vicinity of the old Roffeno Castle, was the residence of painter Giorgio Morandi in the 1930s. During this period, Morandi painted several works inspired by the surrounding landscape.
