One of the most distinctive villages around Loiano is Anconella, which dates back to the XVI century.
Anconella in on the hills (528mt) and its historical centre develops around a building with a colonnade, which was a pilgrims hospital in the past (during the XVI-XVII century); indeed, at that time the ancient route for Florence crossed Anconella. Today the building houses a tavern and inside there is a beautiful fire place with the coat of arms of the Bentivoglio famly. Anconella has other buildings of historical interest; amongst which the church, which was widened in the XVIII century and still preservers remains of the old XIV century oratory.
Worth of mention are also the so called 'buse nelle lastre', litterally holes dug into sandstone, which were used to store things, but also as shelter for domestic animals and sometimes people.
