In the village of Madonna dei Fornelli there is an interesting sanctuary dedicated to the 'Madonna della Neve' (Madonna of the snow) which the inhabitants of Castel dell'Alpi built in 1638 to celebrate the end of the Black Death epidemic.
The church houses a fine Madonna painted with oil paint on copper. Near Madonna dei Fornelli there is a tiny XVI century village named Fornello which was probably the original centre of the main village; Fornello still preserves its original architectural features. Cedrecchia, in the valley of the Savena river, is a small village with the old church dedicated to San Paolo Apostolo; the church has a romanesque bell tower which was built in 1843. Zaccanesca is a small Medieval village which still bears the style of the architects from Como that built here centuries ago. Worthy of mention are also the church of Santa Maria, which was rebuilt in 1922 and the rural house Ca' di Morelli (1701) which is an elegant building designed in a renaissance style.
Madonna dei Fornelli is usually chosen as the place to stay by those who walk the Via degli Dei or the Via Mater Dei.
