Scascoli can be reached from Sabbioni and from La Guarda; it is a small village in a very characteristic location. The earliest documents about Scascoli date back to 1233. The present building of the church, which is dedicated to the saints Stefano and Martino, was reconstructed after the war's destruction.
The facade was made with squared sandstone blocks which belonged to the destroyed church of S. Ansano of Brento; the main altar of the church was made with welded brass shell cases of the American army. In the nice ancient village of the valley of Scascoli can be seen one of the most beautiful votive shrines of the many that are in the Bolognese Apennines.
Other interesting places of the area include: Molino, with a XIX century oratory; Croci, where some graves of the Villanovan culture (II-IV century B.C.) were found; the rural building of 'la Torre', a typical XV century building made by architects from Como. The magnificent rocks known as 'Gole di Scascoli' overlooks the Savena river and can be seen while driving along the road nearby the river.
