Monterenzio
The Casoni di Romagna Wind Farm is located a short distance from the town of Monterenzio, bordering the nearby municipality of Castel del Rio.
The park consists of 16 massive wind turbines (called "turbines," as they are designed to produce electricity by harnessing wind power), built on a sometimes barren hillside. It is possible to walk among the impressive installations thanks to a white gravel road about 4 km long (also accessible by MTB), which contributes to the impression of being almost on another planet: there are many who choose this place as a backdrop for their photographs, resulting in truly incredible images.
The Flaminia Minor, an ancient Roman military road established by Gaius Flaminius in 187 ac, also passes through here. This route is still the subject of study, but it is speculated that it served to connect areas of the Apennines located to the south (Claterna, near Ozzano in Emilia) with others located to the north (the end is ideally placed at Arezzo, in Tuscany).
It is currently possible to travel stretches of the Flaminia Minor either on foot or by bicycle, passing through forests, hills and, of course, the distinctive gullies of the Parco dei Gessi and Calanchi dell'Abbadessa area.
