Luminasio is a small village few kilometres from Marzabotto. The church of Luminasio is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and since 1378 it is also known as 'Santa Maria delle Banzole'.
The area preserves several interesting buildings of historical and architectural importance.
Rio is a medieval village which is a very fine example of fortified architecture of the mountains.
It still preserves a XVI century tower with its original features: the doorway, the date when it was built, a bass relief with a cross and another inscription with the words 'addì 21 de.... 1518'. The cornice of the roof still preserves very elegant painted geometrical decorations.
Nearby there is another building which bears the inscription 'fe polo 1463'. It is the XV century building of Ca' Zanetti; this building has great architectural value and carved architraves. The architraves are carved with interesting inscriptions and decorations, such as the name of the client and the date when the building was erected ('Agustino fe fare del 1512'); on a door there is a date '1500' written with Arab and Roman numbers, mixed together ('IVOO').
Another building of the village has an architrave decorated with bass relieves with the typical symbols of the architecture style from Como, together with a XIV century tower with a decorated pointed arch window.
The XV century buildings of Frascarolo are quite well preserved; there is a very interesting window with a bass relief depicting a star of David, a quarter of the moon and a hand.
The rural building of Ca' Amadesi has a decorated architrave bearing the date 1501 and a window with name of the client ('Amadesio di Amadesi F.F.').
