Querciola is a modern village. At the centre of the village lies a small church dedicated to the 'Beata Vergine di San Luca' which was built to celebrate the miracle of dried flowers; the legend tells that a bunch of dried flowers, which were left on an oak tree during the month of January, miraculously bloomed.
From the village there is a path which leads to the top of the Monte Belvedere; the top of this mountain houses the remains (the doorway arch and part of the walls) of a castle which was built by the city of Bologna in 1227 to protect the territory against the Emperor Federico II, who was aiming to conquer part of the territory of Lizzano.
The small village of Corona, which is located along the road that leads to Montese, was home to the Castelli family; in 1500, Pope Leone X allocated the estates of the 'Contea di Belvedere' to the Castelli. This area is renown for the production of excellent cheese such as the famous 'Parmigiano Reggiano'.
