Parco Laghi Suviana e Brasimone

Regional parks

Parco Regionale dell'Abbazia di Monteveglio

The Bolognese Apennines host five regional parks and one nature reserve, totaling six natural areas, each with its own peculiarities to protect and discover. Each area is created to preserve specific habitats for flora and fauna, as well as to monitor and study the surrounding territory.

It's impossible not to be fascinated by the particular landscapes formed by the rugged hills of the "Gessi e Calanchi dell'Abbadessa" Park, as well as by the picturesque rocky spires of the "Contrafforte Pliocenico" Natural Reserve. The "Corno alle Scale" Park offers boundless views for all hiking enthusiasts, both in summer and winter, although forest walks in the Suviana and Brasimone Lakes Park have nothing to envy to the high ridges.

In the "Monte Sole" historical Park, nature and history intertwine to commemorate the places where a terrible massacre was carried out by the Nazi-fascists in 1944, as well as in the "Abbazia di Monteveglio" Park, where you can admire a large number of ancient medieval villages.
