The museum is settled in Poggiolforato end It includes five sections all related to the culture of local people in the mountains.
The main display is dedicated to chestnuts, the most important food staple of these communities until the recent past. The craft display includes items used to carve wood and stone. There are also sections dedicated to the life of shepherds and to local religious life, with objects of popular devotion and sacred items. The display dedicated to textiles features a large XIX century loom and various tools used to process wool and to weave.
Next to the museum there is a building called "Le Catinelle" which houses the reconstruction of the interior of a typical house of the mountains, with original furniture dating from the XIX century till the decades between the two World Wars.
