The small hamlet of Lustrola is guarded by the centuries-old chestnut groves of the Alto Reno Terme area, not far from Granaglione. Speaking of "millennial history" is absolutely appropriate for this village, which "turned" a thousand years old in 2021: in fact, its first mention in a written document dates back to 1021, in a Pistoia parchment.
It is impossible not to be enraptured by the magic of this place, which retains virtually intact its medieval guise of narrow alleys, steep stairs and hidden corners. Among the old stone houses is also the fine church of San Lorenzo, surrounded by a paved churchyard that is perhaps the widest point of the village, and from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the woods and the other small hamlets.
Surrounding Lustrola are still the many chestnut groves that once formed the basis of the mountain economy thanks to chestnuts, also the basis of the diet of the people who lived in the Apennines. After a walk among the eight small districts that make up Lustrola, it is possible to set off on numerous excursions, on foot or by bicycle, to discover the surrounding slopes.
